ALL IN PERSON CONTESTS WILL BE HOSTED AT THE CALTECH CAMPUS. SPECIFIC ROOM INFORMATION AND DETAILS WILL BE EMAILED TO ALL DISTRICT MEMBERS 1 WEEK BEFORE.

January 31, 2026: Club Participation Deadline

What type of Speech do I give for the Online Speech Contest?

Similar to International Speech Contest, you may give any speech that is 5-7 minutes in length. 

Are the Contests the same? What is the difference?

While the International Speech Contest and Online Speech Contest have similar speeches, they are 2 different speech contests.

  • For the International Speech Contest, the contestants must appear at the contest IN PERSON. The winner of this contest will have the chance to proceed to the International World Championship.
  • For the Online Speech Contest, all participants must be ONLINE at the Area, Division, and District level. The winner of this contest WILL NOT proceed to the World Championship, but will receive a $100 gift pack.
What is the criteria to compete in each contest?
  • All:
    • Contestant cannot be running for an elected District Officer role.
    • Contestant must not be a current Area Director, Division Director, Administration Manager, Finance Manager, Public Relations Manager, Club Growth Director, Program Quality Director, District Director, or Immediate Past District Director.
  •  International:
    • Contestant must be a paid member of a club in good standing (8 or more paid members)
    • Contestant must have competed at least two levels in a Pathway or be a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM)
    • Contestant must compete in-person.
  • Online:
    • Contestant must be a paid member of a club in good standing (8 or more paid members)
    • Contestant must compete online at the Area, Division, and District Level

Can a contestant compete in both contest types?

Yes. As a District, we require the contestant to give a different speech in each contest type.

How many contestants can each club submit?

Each club may submit ONE contestant for EACH contest type. That is one for International Speech Contest and one for Online Speech Contest.

If I am a Speaker or Functionary for the In-Person International Contest, do I need a conference ticket to attend?

No. However, to attend any other part of conference, you must have a ticket. Functionaries get 20% off their tickets.

Do I need a conference ticket to watch the International Speech Contest?

The International Speech Contest is free to watch via the Zoom Stream. Anyone wanting to watch in-person must have a conference ticket.
